Dear Hopewill,
This morning I worked on following up with the companies that showed some interests earlier on placing WAttention. I also helped Helen taking photoshoot for the gift packages of black garlic that are going to be placed on HKTV.
In the afternoon me and Salman went to an interview with Ronnie Chan and it was a great experience for me. I have been excited about this as I always believe talking to successful people would be inspirational. The interview turned out to be not as smooth as we expected. Firstly, he refused to answer some basic questions regarding the background of his company and himself as he said they are available online. We had to expand on the second half of the interview that we prepared about Hong Kong's future and Japanese businesses in Hong Kong in specific. Luckily we managed to ask him more than enough questions. However, he did not give many insightful thoughts that I expected. He was an intelligent man indeed and had he been more interested in the topics (he perhaps prefers politics over business issues right now), we might be able to get more out of the interview.
It was a great exposure for me nevertheless and I believe as long as you have the confidence you can speak confortably in front of these seemingly unapproachable people. I also enjoyed listening to his thoughts on how Hong Kong should welcome more mainland shoppers despite I do not agree entirely with his idea. Attending meetings and interviews are definitely one of the best ways for interns to learn how to handle with people from different backgrounds.
