Dear Mizuki,
How are you? Hope you are fine and looking forward to travelling to Finland! You will be arriving at Helsinki-Vantaa airport on 2nd August. Rotary Youth Exchange person will be waiting for you and all the other Rotary exchange students, and will guide you to the buses to Karkku orientation camp. The bus ride will take a couple of hours. At the camp you will get acquainted with the other exchange students, and Finnish customs - also the Finnish language! I hope you will enjoy the camp.
On 8th August, your first host family the Myllers will come to Karkku to meet you and pick you up from the camp. You have got mail from Mr. Pasi Myller, father of the family. When you have arrived in Kouvola, I hope you will rest and take your time to settle down to your new host home. At the beginning of the next week, I hope to see you at school! We will have a meeting before other students arrive, to get to know the places here and also, to get to know each other. You will also meet our study counsellor, Mr. Antti Sinisalo, to plan your studies at Yhteislyseo High school. The lessons will start on Thu 13th.
I am happy that you will have a chance to meet Riku who will then travel to Japan for his Rotary exchange year. Riku will show you around the school and also around your host home. Me and my colleague at the Rotary will show you around our town, for example different freetime activities.
You will take part at our Rotary weekly meetings on Fridays. The first one is 14th August and also Riku will participate.
Have a very safe and comfortable journey to Finland, and enjoy your first days here in Karkku! It's the most beautiful time of the year, and the warmest, too. And don't worry about the weather getting cooler, you will get winter clothes from us, if you don't mind borrowing them.
One more thing: I am sorry about the Skype connection in my computer - it didn't work out. But we will meet very soon face to face!
Take care,
Maria
