Obon or Bon is a Japanese traditional custom related to Buddhism.
Obon is a day to honor and appreciate the spirits of our ancestors, and those spirits are believed to come back during Obon.
We usually visit our ancestors’ graves or attend community gatherings like Bon festival.
Many Japanese companies are closed for 3 to 7 days around August 15, so that their employees can return to their hometowns.
It’s one of our major consecutive holidays, and recently, many people just enjoy their Obon holidays as summer vacations.
