Pick your destination
The issue is you’re not on vacation and you want to go somewhere (we all do actually!). Ensure your approach has the goal set first. Everything you do must lead to the result. Formulating your process will take preparation.
Make a plan
Planning is important for revealing any potential road blocks, inconsistencies and it will frustrate you. Deal with it! Organization is essential to help you define a process to increase the chances of a smoother trip. Check out how these travel questions help streamline things for you:
Will you take a car, plane, train or boat? (Decide how you will accomplish the objective.)
What do you pack? (Gather the resources together to accomplish the goal.)
Who is going with you? (You don’t need to know it all, so pick out people to fill your blind spots.)
When are we leaving? When do we come back? (Set a timeline to get things done.)
Will it be fun? (Prepare yourself for success or failure.)
You’ve prepped and understand how to tackle the issue at hand, and it’s time to get moving.
Many people that have chosen to become entrepreneurs, decided to take this path in life when they were just children. They were the little kids on the side of the road selling lemonade or cookies or sea shells. Some even hung around golf courses looking for stray balls to sell. Some had newspaper routes, long before the adults horned in on it. I, having had a large unpaved driveway, decided to sell rocks. Did I sell any? No. But I loved rocks and thought everyone else would too. I was 5. I still love rocks. They were the kids that were a bit different from the rest. They sort of stood out from the crowd in some way. They were born with a gift that others didn't understand. A gift that if encouraged to use, would allow them to build businesses and live an awesome life. Some weren't as blessed. Their families just didn't understand this desire so they were discouraged and when they were old enough to work, were told to get a job. Go work for someone else. In essence they were telling their kid that their ideas weren't good enough, or that they weren't smart enough to do something on their own, so they gave up their ideas and fell in line with everyone else. And then there were the "rebels". The ones that constantly bucked the system. These kids chose to think for themselves. They chose to listen to that little voice that said "don't listen to them". These are the ones that had to spend valuable time fighting the very people who should have been there to encourage and help them. Some spent the majority of their lives bouncing from one job to another, one career after another looking for "the one" that will satisfy them. Some never do find it and give up and spend the rest of their lives being what I call, the walking dead. Zombies, just wandering around this life with no clear reason for being. And then others will finally figure it out after the kids have grown. That's me. Although ,I was among the job bouncers, career hoppers, then walking dead, before I finally, finally found my calling. How much easier it would've been if my parents had recognized my gift and encourged it instead of try to push me into a career that I had no interest in. But it's not their fault. They didn't know any better. They had grown up in the Great depression and thought having a good job was the safest route.
So parents, rejoice that your child is different. Rejoice that they stand out in some way. Encourage them to be different. Help them with that lemonade stand. And if they want to sell rocks, let them. They may not sell any, but they will learn something. For me, I would've learned not to sell rocks out of a kotex box, lol. #entrepreneur
