Four things you need to know about the Google Group restructuring
The news hit like a bomb. Google is structured around radically. The search engine will in future become part of a new parent company called alphabet. Even a website has the new giant group already.
❖Hier four things you need to know about the new group.
1. What has changed now?
Soon only the search engine business, the online map service Google Maps, Android and YouTube video platform will belong to the company Google.
Newer businesses are managed separately within alphabet. These include the service was founded in 2013 for health research Calico, the fast wideband networks in several cities program developed Fiber and Google X, the self-propelled for the development of Google's car and the controversial Internet-Head Seat "Glass" responsible research laboratory.
In the house there are also the alphabet Investment divisions Google Ventures and Google Capital who specialized in start-up companies.
2. Who will lead the new giant company?
Even personnel changes a lot. The entire leadership of Google is moving in the alphabet board room. The current Google CEO Larry Page is managing director of Alphabet Holding, co-founder Sergey Brin the company president. Google CEO Eric Schmidt is board the same post tenure with alphabet. The previous CFO Ruth Porat will have the same task at alphabet.
Only one remains at Google: The Internet core business gets a new boss. The many years working with the Group top executives Sundar Pichai rises. From many it is traded as a possible successor of Page.
3. Sundar who please?
Sundar Pichai is now de facto (in fact ポ ル ト ガ ル 語) the number two in the Alphabet Group - and still relatively unknown. He is regarded as quiet, friendly and more introverted. A risk-capital providers told "Fortune" again, Pinchai "proved that even nice guys can win."
The 42-year-old comes from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu and graduated from Stanford University. He leads the 2008 launch of the "Chrome" -Browsers and assumed gradually more and more segments in Google's core business.
Best this quotation of ex-Google (At the best one this quotation Describes him to it Google it describes all over manager Maarten Hooft opposite "Business Insider": "Larry has this blue-sky visions He has no fear, daring objectives. .. put While Sundar rather is a great organizer when Larry and Sergey have these visions and launch initiatives, is, I think, Sundar the type that can implement them, it can a team gather, engage the right people -. He's the one which ensures that it happened. "
4. Why the conversion comes next?
Google has long been not a mere search engine more. The company had invested in all sorts of technology areas: from drones to glucose monitors. It was therefore more difficult to perform.
"We believe that this allows us a larger management framework in order to make things independent who is not very much to do with each other," Page wrote on the company blog.
Google was therefore more confusing for investors - for whom it was difficult to tell which parts of the company turn a profit. Most of the money raised from the lucrative Internet advertising, while indeed other activities would require significant investment, but not immediately brought the hoped-for return.
With the restructuring of the Group to Page prevents a demand on Wall Street for more transparency: as part of the restructuring, the company will start submitting their financial reports in different parts, said the managing director.
Investors seem to like the conversion. In after-hours trading Google shares rose by more than six percent.
