There are so many restaurant in Japan, but one of them is quite special. It is called Mago-no-mise, or Grandchildren's Restaurant. It is run by students of Ohka Senior High School in Taki, Mie Prefecture. They are in charge of cooking, serving, and all the other jobs at the restaurant.
In order to open the restaurant on weekends and holidays, the students spend a lot of time preparing on weekdays. Some students get up very early to go to the local fish market and buy fresh fish before they go to school. After school, othes meet local farmers and ask them to sell their vegetables to the restaurant.
The restaurant is popular among local people of all ages. The customers enjoy the meals made by the students. On the other hand, the students learn many important things, such as hospitality and manners. ”The customers' smiles always make us happy and we want them to enjoy our food. I want to continue cooking Japanese food all my life,” said one of the students. Through their experiences at Mago-no-mise, the students have started thinking about their future careers more seriously. What do you want to do in the future?
