Thank you for reinforcing what Shogo needs to work on. Looking at the teacher or whoever's talking and trying to understand will help him learn more English. When he hears the same words over and over again, and sees what others are doing, his vocabulary will grow.
Today Shogo did not read the Morning Message for himself. Instead he let Agassi tell him what to do. I took Shogo to the Morning Message (see below) and we looked at the key words in step 1. Inline image 1
I asked if he had put his Homework Folder in the box. He said no, then went to get his folder and put it in the box. Step 2 was for the ORT group, not for him. So then we went to Step 3, which is also for him as he is BEAL (beginner EAL). He knows Core5 and how to work on it on his ipad. Hopefully tomorrow he will follow the steps on his own. If he doesn't understand something, please tell him to come to me.
At this point in time, I do not feel it necessary for you to come in to observe Shogo, plus the children are very observant and once any of them notice you, Shogo will act differently. I am not sure of what Shogo clearly remembers but I do know he was aware he was behaving inappropriately during the library teacher's class. I think it may be a good idea, however, to send you information of any routines or things we do regulary - as with the Morning Message - so you can see what is being said in English and can translate to see that Shogo understands.
One of our routines is to walk quietly in line as a class. Shogo has received reminders from many teachers that he is not to run ... even if someone else is!
Let's keep in touch in supporting Shogo.
