On my impression and suggestion to the crew of IBT
1. At the time of working in vessel, crew should take wear of security implement.
(It's natural for them to fit short pants, slippers etc.)
Certainly, I know well few No.1Oiler with taking safety protecting equipment.
In order to secure the safety at least, they should take uniform working wear and safety shoes.
2. Crew should take the confirmation of the condition of each equipment before watch shift.
3. Ensure taking over in a watch shift.
(As to out of order of instrument, faulty point, etc.)
4. Visual check of each (Only at every watch ,checking condition is performed)
It seems that the confirmation works is depending on oiler.
5. Should be clarified who is person in charge of each equipment.
6. At least one time per one day, chief engineer should check the running condition of all
equipment in engine room.
Absolutely, but there is few chief engineer who works with his crew together, however, it is
fact that there are many chief engineers who have no concern with troubles and works.
Most of chief engineers come down to engine control room for taking data of noon report only
the morning but from afternoon they never get down engine room.
7. (When the condition of a machinery worsens and management by self -vessel cannot performed)
Chief engineer has to report immediately to office the discrepancy.
An out of order can be managed with a minimum by quick crew's proper report.
8. Lectured maintenance procedure by USL's engineers should be performed as possible.
9. Management of spare part and consumables should be carried out properly.
10. At the time of bunkering, other job should be not done, as much as possible.
