The International Cultural Bank, in cooperation with the Armenian Genocide Institute Museum, is launching a commemorative campaign to assist the Japanese people.
The initiative suggests paying homage to those who died in devastating earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan earlier this year.
Dear friends,
April 24, 2011, is a special day in our lives. For the first time since 1915, April 24, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, falls on Easter Sunday in the Armenian Church calendar.
Let us not forget the message of Jesus Christ wherby he preached love and mercy to the entire mankind.
The Armenian people have seen pain and suffering, genocide and earthquakes, war and deprivation. Let us remember on April 24, the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, about the grief of others and express our support for the people of Japan in connection with the recent disasters that ravaged the country.
On April 24, during the traditional procession to the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex, let us lay flowers at the memorial symbolizing the Armenian-Japanese friendship, bow our heads, take notes in the memory book, and leave money in the donation box.
Moral support and solidarity with the Japanese people is more important than financial assistance. Let us recall our grief, and realize that of others.
The aid campaign and the visit to the Genocide Memorial will be broadcast live on the Internet through A1+ Company. Japan will air the event in airports, malls and other crowded areas.
Electronic transfers and SMS donations will be organised throughout Armenia from April 23 to 30.
